Introduction

While Latin America been one of the most progressive regions over the past decade for LGBT+ rights and advancements, there has been an increase in social and political backlash. The use of violence and the repression of LGBT+ people by certain governments has slowed the overall progress of achieving universal rights and equality for LGBT+ people in Latin America as well. In countries such as Brazil and Argentina, where there have been significant advancements for LGBT rights, there has also been a significant rise in violence and discrimination, specifically towards transexual people. LGBT+ organizations in Latin America continue to fight back against the violence and political & social repression by cooperating with each other by planning conferences, organizing marches, and reaching out to different sexual minority groups who all have their own issues to deal with.

This website will cover some of the LGBT+ organizations across Latin America that have either organized or attended conferences to discuss different issues that not just affect the LGBT+ community, but also effect all of Latin American society. Each button below will bring you to a different page that contains information about the organizations, the conferences, and a visualization of the data.
